InVivoDental Viewer is the free Windows viewer that Anatomage released so that people without an InVivoDental licence could open 3D CBCT cases prepared in InVivoDental. It was meant for referring dentists, specialists, lab partners and patients who received a case file from a practice that owned the full planning software. - Opens Invivo case files (.inv). According to Osteoid’s knowledge base, an .inv file bundles the patient’s scan data and the “work-up” data (nerve tracings, implant placements and similar) in one file.
- Lets a colleague or patient look at a case in 3D without buying InVivoDental. DEXIS, which distributes Invivo 6, describes this as visualising a shared case “using an easily downloadable viewer”.

This was the viewer’s main job. A practice with InVivoDental plans an implant or traces the mandibular canal, saves the case as an .inv file and sends it to a surgeon or restorative dentist. The recipient opens the file in the viewer and discusses the plan by phone or at the consultation. If you still receive .inv files and already have the viewer installed, the workflow is the same: copy the file to a local drive (not a slow network share), open it, and check the 3D view and the plan.

Because the viewer needed no licence, a practice could put it on any consultation-room PC and show the patient the 3D reconstruction and the planned implant. Today the supported way to let someone else see a case is to share it through Invivo Workspace, which the recipient opens in a browser.
Moving to the supported route
- Ask the sender whether they use Invivo 7 or Invivo Workspace.
- If they do, ask them to share the case to your Invivo Workspace account instead of sending a loose .inv file.
- In Workspace, open the case, click the file icon and choose Preview. The Invivo Viewer opens in a new browser tab. Only files that show a Preview label can be viewed that way.

Install and first run
Windows: the viewer was a normal Windows desktop program. Because the developer no longer publishes it, only copies from third-party download catalogues are around.
